Image Greetings unto the fighters of the Midrealm,

By now, melee season will be starting to pick up. there have been a number of rule updates and clarifications over the winter and spring, so please make sure you're up to speed. You can check past Pale articles and/or Legio Draconis for a refresher. Please remember that spear authorizations must be conducted in a melee.

Image Greetings, fighter of the Midrealm!

Every  now and then the question pops up about duct tape on swords - in particular, the "shiny silver" duct tape that some people use on their swords.

It appears that there are two types of shiny silver duct tape. My high-tech investigative skills at Home Depot revealed that one brand contains aluminum foild, which is expressly forbidden to be used in weapons since it contains metal. So, if you plan to use shiny silver duct tape, make sure it's the brand that doesn't contain any aluminum!

Also, I'd like to remind everone of the Society Rule and Conventions of Combat III. B. 10: Deliberately striking an opponent's head, limbs, or body with a shield, weapon haft, or any part of your body is forbidden.

Image Greetings unto the Thrown Weapons community from Dominique, incoming Deputy Kingdom Earl Marshal for Thrown Weapons.

First I would like to take a moment to thank Baron James Cunningham, O.L, for his service to thrown weapons. Without people like him who volunteer their time and effort, we would not be able to enjoy our sport. So, thank you James!

Now, down to business. Many of you know me, but for those who do not: I have been a thrown weapons marshal for more than 14 years. I am a member of the Greenwood Company for thrown weapons. I enjoy teaching and have taught throwers as young as five years old. At an event you can find me either at the thrown weapons list or in the kitchen. I am looking forward to meeting many new throwers in my new position. I plan to attend as many events as possible where thrown weapons are being promoted. Please feel free to ask me any questions you may have. I also would like to hear any suggestions or concerns you may have.
