King & Queen The Midrealm, is the third oldest kingdom in the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA). Properly known as the Middle Kingdom, it consists of Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Illinois, part of Kentucky, a nip of Iowa, and a bit of Ontario. We are part of an international organization promoting the study and re-creation of pre-17th century (predominantly) Western European arts and skills. This is accomplished in part by events where members can participate in a variety of activities - from tournaments, arts exhibits, classes, workshops, dancing, feasts, and more. Much of the experimentation and camaraderie is accomplished at local groups' weekly meetings. |

Middle Kingdom Reliquary: The Pale |

As those who've been around awhile know, there was a fire in which many of the kingdom's archives were lost back in 1994. One of my goals -- perhaps a foolishly ambitious one at that! -- as Reliquary curator, is to assemble a complete set of "The Pale" going back to Volume 1, Issue 1. I am not aware of a complete set in existence; certainly it's not in the Pale Editor's or Kingdom Chronicler's archives. Our records are reasonably complete back through the 1990's, but issues of "The Pale" from 1969 through 1991 are a bit hard to come by. So, I'm asking the members of the Midrealm: Is anyone aware of collections of the first two decades of "The Pale"? I'd certainly be happy if anyone would be willing to donate them to the Kingdom Reliquary, but I'd also be quite satisfied to find out if such a collection even existed at all, and if the owner(s) were willing to bring them out on occasion -- in particular, the Middle Kingdom 40th Anniversary event in October. As with the Reliquary itself, just because I'm particularly interested in one thing doesn't mean I'm limited to that. If good gentles are aware of interesting publications of relevance to the Midrealm's history, I'm quite interested in those as well. I can be contacted at
